Word is from the Brisbane class is that he's doing some signings of guitars and whatnot which is awesome for me. I want him to sign my Jem Contest Loser custom in Perth this coming thursday. (I'll take pics for you in here, don't worry)

....if he really likes it, I'll let him keep it.

I hope I get to meet him, I really do.

@Macka, don't let him keep it. If he really wants it, give him your contact info and go from there.

From my limited contact with Mr Vai, if you do help him out, say giving him a guitar, he'll find a way to thank you.

I'm not saying you should give it away, but my own impression is that Steve Vai has plenty of positive karma in the bank.

Re: Steve Vai Swirled Skateboard Decks coooooool

My question is, do I get vai to sign my Blue J Custom Paint or do I bring my Yellow 550 which he has already signed and get him to sign it a second time :P

So I bring both guitars, one to play on stage and one for signing, or should I get him to sign the Paint ??

Take the J Custom paint for him to sign. I wouldn't want the same guitar signed twice. Plus, you'd only have to take 1 guitar with you.

@Macka--Even though some of us have followed your dream guitar build from the beginning, it would be pretty cool to offer it to Vai. Imagine seeing a clip from a show somewhere and he's playing it. I agree--he would return the favor somehow.

Certainly wishful thinking, but I don't think he'd be allowed under his endorsement to *buy* what is essentially a fake Ibanez (not to diminish Macka's design in any way). I know it's a tribute and nothing more and on those grounds, I can't imagine he or Ibanez would have a major problem with the use of the logo. But red tape is red tape at the end of the day. Besides, with it being personal to Macka, it wouldn't quite be right.

However, I don't think there would be an issue if he were to commision you to reproduce artwork and tweak it so that it was personal to him (his family's names, etc) using a bonafide Ibanez body. If he really wanted it that is. I'm sure it would be good publicity for both himself and the designer(s) too, if he were to realise some of the other concepts which were submitted that he really liked.

Bring the guitar that you're going to get the most playability out of, autographs are for 13 year old girls...unless they're on the back of the headstock

I have no doubt if Steve started selling his swirled farts in cans, fanboys would buy them
