Steve used to use Dean Markley's Blue Steel which are really good strings. Nowadays he's got a nice Ernie Ball-endorsement, which are also great if you're able to change strings every day (they don't last that long). So Ernie Ball it is. Super Slinkies or something (.009). It's on his site I reckon.

I was under the impression that he uses ernie ball custom slinkys (.9 to 40?). I forget where I read this, but it said that it gave him better control or something.

Blue Steel's tone sucks IMO. They never get that "worn in" sound that I like.

yeah i did notice that EB strings tend to wear off very quickly! i mean a pack of Super Slinkys can last about two to three weeks maximum for me before they really start to rust and wear off my frets

they are amazing strings well worth the money.. im getting the stage now where i gotta clean my fretboard coz its jsut so nasty lol

that i am trying to bend the low E string up 5 notes! lol

just to see if can get rid of them so i can change them and clean my board

but they wont brake on me these things are monsters

been playing non stop per day for about 3months

still going strong

strings

I used to use ernie ball hybrid slinky (9-46) but i also found that they would tarnish and feel dull, I like the smooth feel of new strings so i changed them every 2-3 weeks, now i use SIT Rock n Roll's (9-46)
and i have found that they last loads longer than ernie balls (1-2 months) and they have nevver snapped yet, unlike ernie balls.

I think d addarios 9-42's are the best IMHO, they hae good tone and i have yet to break a string, and they are nice and smooth and they stay fast just like new strings, but i wipe my strings after every time i play and i wash my hands every time before i play, to keep em lasting, i dont know they work GREAT for me!!!!
