Is that actually Steve's, or was it just made as an experiment by a builder, or what?

Pretty sweet! but I guess it must be one or those "one of it's kind guitars" that get built just as a piece of art! Can any of you guys actually think about sitting down and playing this thing?!
Anyway, if you gotta play it, you need to have the accompanying space suit type of outfit that's on UZ cover!

I'm pretty sure that we have talked about this guitr on Jemsite before.

It was build by Emerald guitars in a bid to increase their popularity and bring them fame and more business.
I know that Emerald guitars is based in the UK, but don't know anything else about them.

Also about this guitar...........they saw the cover of Ultra Zone, contacted Steve to find out if he actually has a guitar like that, he (or most probably Rich Pike) told them that he doesn't have a guitar like that and they asked him wheather he will be interested to have one build for him.

After that they build one and flew over to CA couple of times to show him scetches, models and half working prototypes and then gave him a real one.
I'm not sure what happened to that guitar, but it's not on VAI.com so methinks that they presented it to him somewheare at a function, and he just left it there.

There is a head on the neck but no tuning machines on it and the bridge does apear to be stainberger(trans-trem or something to that effect) trem.

For more info, search for emerald guitars here or in google.

I have scans of the Guitar mag with the builder and story of how it came to be. I'll put them online when I get home.

I thought that it was up for auction a while back. Where was this pic taken? another interesting thing to note that if you look carefully, the guitar that's illustrated on the cover of UZ is actually a seven-string. This actual guitar is six. Very cool pic none the less.

Steve has had this guitar for some time - Emerald borrowed it for their very cool display.

This is very different from the Ultra Zone guitar that was raffled at Jemfest in 2000.

Detailed images and info on this guitar will be added to Steve's guitar collection on Vai.com very soon. In fact, for those interested, I have re-photographed Steve's entire collection - so the whole Guitar Gallery will change. It's a big job though! So it will probably go up piece by piece.
