Stratsound on Ibanez...

MWA HAH! I forgot, twohands31... a semi-chambered body! I bet this contender would weigh in at around 5 lbs. Not too bad, eh?

(Psst... this is actually possible. I have thouroughly researched this concept, and it could float. The real caveat, to me is, I would want the trem to be a Lo-Pro (Easily done on a conventional trem, however. Probably easier, as it wouldn't require a ground-up approach like the Double-Edge. Triple-Edge? WEEE! :loco: ). Ibanez endorsment, hurry up!)

And I REALLY do like Strats!

I know what you mean on Les Pauls. They are very nice! But... just feel a little different. Minimalist approach maybe? I want one... but just to hang on my wall pretty much.

My 2 million pesos.

Stratsound on Ibanez...

i used to have a strat for the moments i wanted a strat sound.

Since I put the Dimarzio VirtuAL 2 Bridge pickup in the middle position of my BFP I haven't taken the strat out of the case. *2,3 & 4 are SCHWEET!

Around here we seem to flame just about everyone that doesn't play an Ibanez. :rotf:

Stratsound on Ibanez...

I started out playing about 20 years ago on a little Sears special but quickly graduated to a LP clone. I loved that guitar but could never play one now. I'm totally spoiled ... I agree, it feels like a strung 2 x 4 bolted to a barn door. And it's too short! I end up with my hand behind the bridge wondering what dryer they used to shrink it with... or is it just concentrated now since it's so damn heavy?!

As for the Strat sound, yeah I love that signature Strat "quack" that you can't quite get with any other guitar. We sell a Strat model with a double locking Floyd for a very reasonable price and I am seriously thinking of getting one. It will NEVER replace my JEM in any way shape or form for my rock and metal needs but that 4th and 5th position strat sound is just awsom for clean stuff.

I don't know if you can get that strat sound out of a JEM, but pos 2 and 4 sound pretty cool. If ou are looking for a neck single coil tone (or a bridge single coil) then the solution is simply to get a push pull pot which can be wired to only use one coil of the humbucker. Quite simple, and gives you a more versataille guitar sound wise. I must admit that I haven't done this to my bsb yet, but that's mainly because I hven't touched it yet (if i get round to replacing pickups, then I am changing the wiring...mwahahahaha!)

Personally I'd go for the JEM, soup it up (maybe play with the pickups) and then if you really miss not having a strat, then get one as well. One can never have too many guitars

Has anyone added a coil-tap on their Jem? I've been considering it for the same reasons: I want that Strat neck pickup tone. Obviously on a 24 fret neck, it's gonna sound different as the harmonic nodes are't above the pickups. Any opinions?
