String Gauge - on your Jem7vwh...

I recently played a Jem7vwh at Guitar Center and I loved it. What do you all like for your setups? low even action with light strings and 4 claw springs?

String Gauge

I use D'Addario 10s on mine with the stock 3 springs. *The action is super low.

MattyB they're regular D'addario 9-42 guage i think they may have a heavier bottom but i'm not sure.

I always use 9 gauge, not going to bother messing with other gauges as 9 is fine for me, i also use the regular 3 springs (obviously), my action is pretty high as i like no buzz whatsoever.

Re: String Gauge - on your Jem7vwh...

I don't have a VWH, but two other JEM's.

I have 10-46 and with very high action on mine (on all my other Ibanez too).
It just sounds better with high action.
But I wish I could play 9 strings, it sounds better to my playing style, it "glues" the notes nicer, but the just feel like rubber and break to much.

I have three springs.

i use 10-46 ghs. i have 4 springs, but i don't like not being able to screw the spring cover so the springs won't come flying out. so either i go back to 9-42 or does maybe someone know where i can get springs like: http://www.jemsite.com/tech/img/t_trem5sp.jpg

Re: String Gauge - on your Jem7vwh...

lol speaking of string gauge i had to set up a kids bridge, a freshmen who always hated floyds till he bought one, cause he restrung his new 550 with alot heavier strings and then got all pissy cause the bridge was sticking up and he was like "well it shouldn't be doing that...i think i got sold a broken guitar" lol it made me laugh....just thought i would share.

Looksl like you could just bend the ends of the springs to that shape. I might try that.
