Strings fitting for a Jem.

Finally a sunny day! Unfortunately my mobile is not used to this much light, but you get the picture (heh...). I have tried Elixir strings before, but didn't like the coating. These got some sort of coating too, but it's far less noticeable than the old Elixir strings. So here it is: My Jem with new Aurora strings. Only reason I bought them was the color, of course.

Awesome. I've been playing DR's coated coloured strings for a little over a year now. Have you ever tried them?

No, never tried DR colored strings. I know they got a nice pink set, so it could be worth it. These Aurora strings also come in multicolored sets.

MULTICOLOURED!?!?!?! Well, that's pretty much win right there.

If you wouldn't mind letting us know how the colour wears after you've played them for a bit/while I'd greatly appreciate it!

That's a stunning swirl there..... and the stings look pretty awesome, but I'm dubious. ...... man..... love that swirl.

Re: Strings fitting for a Jem.

I'm suprised that the scratchplate is swirled with the guitar instead of having a clear scratchplate over the body. Strange.

Re: Strings fitting for a Jem.

Thanks! It used to be a beat up RB. It's done by Herc Fede. The white areas are actually purple, just way too much light for my mobile to catch the colors.

Main reason - it's a front routed guitar. There were some swirls done with plates covering the cavity, but I think this came out great. It's been 7-8 years, and there is no sign of wear on the pickguard. I see no reason not to swirl the pickguard if it's a front routed guitar.

Re: Strings fitting for a Jem.

How do they coat over the scratchplate from helping it from getting....well....scratched?

Re: Strings fitting for a Jem.

It feels exactly the same as the body. Could be a regular clear coat. I guess the pickguard is rubbed before swirling, but I am not 100% sure.

Could you post up a couple of pics of that guitar photographed inside?.... I really want to see it's true colors.

Re: Strings fitting for a Jem.

I've been using the red DR's on a telecaster. At first the coating feels awkward, but after getting used to it I actually started to really enjoy the strings. They are butter smooth and do last.

I will try to remember. I'm currently on vacation and far away from this guitar.
