Stripping a JEM7DBK - ???????

Has anyone here ever stripped a 7dbk? Is it even possible because of the stucco finish?

Stripping a JEM7DBK

I talked to Chandlers in Kew in London (of botanical garden fame) who said they stripped a similar coating once but that it was a pain in the rear so to speak!

They said they'd charge double to strip a DBK compared to stripping a "normal" finished guitar. Something about it being some sort of epoxy paint or something?!?!?

I have the feeling if you tried to power sand a DBK body, the finish would melt and/or really gum up the sandpaper very quickly

I'd try chipping it off first.
Then I would heat gun the rest off.

I've got a scary picture in my head now; a guy crouched over a DBK body with a chisel in one hand and a mallet in the other.

shiver.......

You don't want to use a chisel!
Get a drywall tool, the flat wide ones made from thin steal.

It would definitely easier to sell the guitar and buy one with a finish that you like.

I'm totally onboard with chromeboy. *Why not sell it to someone who wants it? *Find a cheap beatup body and molest that one instead.

Man, it would be much, much easier to make a new body blank out of your prefered wood and use the the parts from the 7d then if you want tosell it later you can just reassemble the 7d and voila!!!
