Stupid Question (JS1000)

Heres my stupid question of the day, is it a good idea to buy a 97 JS1000 for $600 when I hate floyds (gonna block it)but I love how the JS looks and I really want an Ibanez in my life after I played a RG 25 anniversary in guitar center in 2012?

Yes its a good idea, i'll validate your choice!

But seriously if you vibe with the guitar then go for it, worse case scenario is you resell it or throw it in a woodchipper and pretend you never bought it. However, there were some fixed bridge JS's released in the past, you could also try to hunt one of those down.

Totally agree on this... $600 is a hell of a deal.

Can you try it out before buying? I only say this because the JS guitars have a different feel than the RG's, mainly the neck. Fantastic sounding, easy playing, and versatile guitars!!

Re: Stupid Question (JS1000)

If you have it blocked but still use the locking pads at the nut you will get a great guitar that stay in tune super well and at that price it's a steal. I support the idea but also for that price it's not a huge risk if you were to not like it.

Re: Stupid Question (JS1000)

Some questions I have, is the number on the headstock supposed to be different from the one on neck plate, does it have problems on the heel like Jems, how can I tell if the edge is in bad shape without taking it apart (are the knife edges also important for a blocked trem), and are the JS from 97 supposed to have the inlay at 21s fret?

Re: Stupid Question (JS1000)

a 97 would still have a JS Custom inlay, 98 was the glorious return of no inlays if I am correct. The serial number (on headstock) has nothing to do with the J Plate number on the plate on the back of the neck where it meets the body. Don't know about the other questions

Re: Stupid Question (JS1000)

Any pre-production 98's would have a late 97' serial number and no inlay.

Re: Stupid Question (JS1000)

Yeah 1996 was the last inlay 1000s in the catalog and then 1997 there were no Japanese in the catalog, although I have a Japanese 700 with 97 serial and like Rich said any early 98s I guess would have 97 serial but 98 specs. That's good it means it has the digitized multiradiused neck that started in 98
