Swirl Project

Just recieved my new jem-body from Area51 Customs swirled and cleared by Alan at outofthisswirled.
The plan is to fit a lo pro trem and bkp nailbombs in purple/green and a jem singlecoil in pink and get a wizardneck and change the fretboard to one with pyramids or maybe the jem dna. Not sure if maple or ebony is the way to go.

Re: Swirl Project

Very nice indeed! I think jem dna and ebony would look awesome on that guitar...but then I've never been a huge fan of pyramids. I generally prefer playing maple fingerboards but I think the dark look of ebony would be sexy on that guitar...

Re: Swirl Project

Thx guys! I think alan is one of the most talented swirlers there is and when I heard that he doesn't make 'em anymore due to health issues I grabbed one really fast!

Re: Swirl Project

I'm stunned. That's one of the best swirls I've seen. Ever.

Can't wait to see finished pictures, don't be shy with the camera when it's done ;-)

Re: Swirl Project

Lovely swirl from Al! Congrats!

I would go with DNA inlay with a dark rosewood board. Ebony is great for rock and metal, but a bit harsh for the clean tones imo. All maple, birdseye or flamed maple could be nice too!

I guess it depends what kind of music you play what fingerboard would give that extra to you. They will all work offcourse.. A different fingerboard is only a small percentage of your guitar sound.
