Team J Craft labels on JS1000/1200

What is the deal with the "Team J Craft" label ? most 2000-2010 JS1000/1200's with Edge Pro trems have the label but then is disappeared after 2011 (when they startes using Edge trems again). Or is anything MIJ = Tram J Craft ? (not to confuse with J Customs I recon).

Any differences in qualities? thx

"Team J Craft" was marketing label showing up at some Japanese made guitars. I think the goal was exactly opposite - to confuse people they're buying something more special by making it similar to "J Custom".

I'd like to add it still boggles the mind Ibanez management approved this silly/fake label.

Re: Team J Craft labels on JS1000/1200

I've seen people saying that their JS1000 or whatever is better than a JS1 or JS6 because those models were before the Team J Craft, like suddenly Ibanez cared about quality. I think as a marketing tool it certainly worked. People think it means it's like a Sugi or something.

Well... The quality of my '08 1200 is amazing and it plays awesome, but I guess I'm a little disappointed that it the "Team J Craft" sticker means nothing. Oh well, never knew what it actually meant!

Don't get me wrong I own a number of Team J Crafts myself and I too thought it was some special secret ninja JS division of elite luthiers, but it's just not the case.

TJC was the most brilliant sales and marketing strategy Ibanez has ever come up with and the proof is that everybody thinks it means their guitar is in some way better than the ones that came before or after. That they dropped the slogan was the blunder as it was so effective the lack of it makes everybody think the current guitars are somehow inferior.

Wow, I never noticed it was gone until right now.

I'm with you on this. I've seen enough Ibanez classified ads to know that this term above everything else stuck with people. For whatever reason Prestige seems to be much less impactful. I've seen more ads than I can count that refer to a "Team J Craft Ibanez".

Makes you wonder if they would be better off going to the classic check mark logo with Team J Craft on the back of the neck? The Prestige logo has always looked stupid.
