Are there two different Jem 7VWH specs?

I've been reading some stuff about the Jem 7VWH, and here and there I find things like "the new 7VWH" and "the old 7VWH", and comparisons between the two... what is it about? Aside the ebony/rosewood fretboard, and the Edge variations, did the Jem 7VWH have its specs changed in some year? If so, what changed?

The neck heel width changed from 56mm to 58mm in 2005.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what exactly is the "neck heel"?

Also, is this width increment a good thing?

Re: Are there two different Jem 7VWH specs?

the neck got wider so the width at the last fret went from 56mm to 58mm. this link lists a bunch of Ibanez neck dimensions:

http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_neck_types

Whether or not that is a good thing depends on if you like the feel of the wider neck or not

Rich said the width changed to 58mm in 2005, but this chart says it didn't change until 2010.
I tend to believe Rich... can someone confirm if this chart is actually wrong?

I think it was earlier than 2010 when Ibanez started going with the 58mm necks on RG prestige and Jems because I bought a RG 2550zgk prestige in about 2008 and it has the 58mm width neck

Rich is correct (as always)....Wikia has it wrong for the Jem neck. They have it right for the Wizard necks.

This has been discussed many times with no solid answer. I presume it was done along with other improvement at the time in an attempt to reduce the amount of defective returns/replacements. I am only assuming this, I have no facts to back it up. Japan does what Japan wants.......why does the EZ still exist when the majority of players seem to prefer the ED/LP?

Re: Are there two different Jem 7VWH specs?

There was also a change on the tone and volume pots in oct/nov 2005; they are still 500k but bigger now; after that first change there were another replacement in 2010 and a last one in 2012 I believe. That changes are reflected on the Ibanez parts inventory of their website.

Re: Are there two different Jem 7VWH specs?

Can I ask something about the different 7VWH here?
I have found to buy two used ones with the same specs except the tremolo.
Which one is better and more reliable Lo Pro Edge or Edge Pro ?
Thank you.

Everyone loves the original Edge and Lo-Pro Edge. Some love the Edge Pro.

Steve Vai uses the Edge.

The Lo-Pro Edge is essentially the same design as the Edge but with some major changes where the fine tuners are set lower (so it doesn't kick up as high) - hard to describe in words, easy to see.

The Edge Pro has nothing to do with the trem Vai uses...really...when compared to the Lo-Pro.

Therefore, Lo-Pro wins!
