Trem damage..Anyone seen this before?

Hello all.. looking at buying this Universe, but concerned about the crack on the left side of the trem. Has anyone seen this before? Do you think it's just in the finish or more serious? I haven't actually seen it close up yet, this is just a photo the guy sent me. Any thoughts/opinions would be great.

Cheers

Re: Trem damage..Anyone seen this before?

is it a crack or a piece of fuzz? A crack in the baseplate wouldnt migrate up through the saddle with them being separate parts.

If it's not a piece of fuzz then the chrome is probably cracked, it's very unlikely that the bridge would itself would crack. I wouldn't be worried. Still though, you should ask him about it before you go to see the guitar in person.

Perhaps get a few more pictures?

That's a good point RG.. it shouldn't travel across components.

Baz.. Agreed, can't see how you'd crack a trem like that. I'll definately have to get him to send me more pictures.. it's a long way to travel to be disappointed when I get there.

Thanks both

That's definitely not a crack.
Look to the far left side of the trem...it's a hair. It bridges the gap between the trem and body.

HAHA!!! It goes all the way up into the saddle too... the other line just looks like a reflection of the saddle on the base plate

Funny to say this but do you have a better picture? That isn't part of the bridge. Looks like someone took a file to the scratchplate? Hard to tell without more in shot.

Looks like a chip in the paint there. Or it's a leaf stuck in there from playing outside.

Just a ding in the pickguard... nothing 30 seconds with a piece of sandpaper can't fix
