Trem Idea For UV

About a week ago I got my hands on a new chrome Edge 7 trem(for a darn good price) exactly like the one on my UV777BK. As I was looking, I noticed something that caught my eye. Were all Edge 7's made with the extra little hole underneath the trem to make it a possible U-Bar bridge? Like would Ibanez just go down the line and grab some Edge 7's and finish off the 2nd hole to make it U-Bar capable? Or am I just stupid? If it's possible, I may take it to a nearby tool and die factory where a friend works and have them make me a U-bar system so I could try it out without buying a new guitar (God forbid the K-7 purchase, nice guitar but inlay just blows). Opinions? Answers? Thanks.

Which, therefore, makes the U-Bar easier to make too. I think it's a cool idea if you can do it, I say go for it.

I would imagine the bar to be longer. I am going to take it to my friend and show him the bar so i can get the diameter right and the instert end correctly cut, then have him machine me one (now I can have a chrome bar of sorts). Anybody have an idea of the length of the U-Bar length before it is bent? Just needing to be as accurate as possible.

Good point sniper. I think I will have to be traveling to a nearby guitar center or something. Maybe the one outside Cincy has one I could get a look at and take measurments.

Yeah, Mars would be a good place for it. Willcuts is my main place being as the only place in Frankfort is the Doo Wop Shop. I remember the 10th there and they also had the UV777GR there too in good condition. I think I'm due a trip to Cincy here soon.

Just comment...if you bore a hole through the top plate of the trem you might end up flaking off the chrome plating, meaning a complete replate. Not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things, but it would be an added expense.

Yeah I thought about that too Gresh, but it's one I got to spare so I'm willing to risk it. It only cost $50 for the whole trem set. I think I also know someone who can give it a chrome bath if need be.
