tremol-no 4 springs...

I'm just installing a tremolno in my JEM and I ussually have 4 springs in the trem cavity. Can I still use four springs just in the different position. How will this effect the guitar/bridge?

The effect of reorganizing the springs should be minimal. What kind of strings are you using that need 4 springs though?

Re: tremol-no 4 springs...

I`ve put 5 on my 7V, its seems alright, maybe I`d get away with 4, what would the difference be apart from the extra stress on the adjusting screws, but I presume they are designed for 5 anyway?

Hey I just got a JEM yesterday, and I want to change to 10s, and install a tremolno. Couple questions: I was told to not install 4 springs for the 10s because its more tension than the 10s need, and it drastically reduces flutter. I was told, "If the screws are way far in already, cut one coil off each spring.
Then bend down the next coil to make it look like it did before you cut it.
This way it will grab on to the claw again." And since my screws are far in already, I didnt know if I should do this or add another spring. Im really confused. And the tremol no is supposed to be small clamp style for the JEM right?
Thanks

Not sure where you got the info, but if it's from the T-no guy (Kev), I say that is a good option.

You can also get the Floydupgrades heavy duty springs, they should have more tension - however, springs is not my area of expertise.

New tighter springs would work too.

Or shorter, just a touch.

That's why I cut mine down when going to 10s.
