Tremsetter on a Universe - Anyone done this?

So...I love the Floyd but hate the bounce. *I admit that I'm typically a blocked tremolo or non-trem player (I played a Telecaster for years) and that little dip in pitch has gotten to annoy me now and again.

The Tremsetter seems like a potential asnwer but it requires drilling. *Additinally I'm not sure if the increased pressure with the added spring is going to do something weird with it.

Anyone installed one on a UV or other 7 string guitar?

try adding more springs..try with all 5 on, though that'd make the trem unplayable

I agree with Nuno, cut through and block it. *I'm not a trem player either, nor do I own a seven string( I suck bad enough with just six strings,HA). *but I've had friends who've used a tremsetter on a seven and they liked it.

I'm putting an Ibanez BackStop in my Floral Jem - I've scavanaged a couple out of some older guitars that have gone through my hands lately; I really liked them in the guitars they were originally installed in, tho' they do increase the trem's resistance - pull-ups are harder because of the BackStop, and bend-downs are harder because you're using increased spring tension over a free floating trem. I can't flutter with one installed, but they do allow you to do most of the cool string bending tricks you know and love once installed... and since Steve uses 'em on Flo' and EVO, I figure what the hey!

Can you still get back-stops or will I have to hunt around to find one?

I found two old Ibanez guitars, bought them, took out the backstops, and sold the guitars...

...I guess you could call that "hunting around"...

good luck
