UK Price on a JEM7VWH?

I'm new to the JEM world, and after trying a JEM555 ina music shop i've wanted one ever since. However, after reading more about the JEM line on this site i've decided that a the 7VWH would be a better investment ( ) especially as the trem is one of the main reasons for me buying one. What i can't seem to find, however is a consistent price for on in english pounds. What would i expect to pay for one in the UK?

p.s what about the black one as well?

well i got a vwh about a year ago now. I found prices ranging between £1649 to best part of 2 grand. in the end i got mine for £1699.

Be careful abd check them over though. Some places they were rather poorly setup!

Best price I've seen for a new one was £1599 and that was a few months ago in a shop in Wembley.
Can't remember the name of the shop though, but it was very close to the stadium.
The Guitar, amp and keyboard centre in Brighton sells the 7VW for £1649.

Shop around and try the guitars because you don't want to pay that much for a guitar only to find out that it needs full setup and knife edge sharpening.

thanks. i was expecting to pay around £1700 for a JEM. I'm gonna have to get a job just to save enough money for one.

When you say "the black one", I assume you mean the 7DBK. This one is a bit cheaper (~£1200) and if you like the thinner neck profile you might just prefer it to the VWH. You'll have to test it to find out what's best for you.

maybe you can buy it from one of the sponsors in the US and have it shipped to the UK. i'm not sure about the taxes and shipping charges involved, but i have a feeling it's gonna end up being cheaper.

Get it from the US. Much much cheaper!!! try bargaining and find out howmuch tax England's Kings and Queens of England want for the JEM.

I haven't bought/imported a guitar from the US yet but if the price there is around $1700 then with shiping charges (around $120) and Import Duty and VAT (22.5% on top of guitar+shipment), by the time we get it here it's still going to be around £1500, so no real savings to be made.

Also buying localy gives that "peace of mind" thing where you know that if anything goes wrong you can just take it back to the shop.

I'll second the sugestion about the 7D.
If you like the neck on your RG5XX/7XX, the 7D will be a better fit for you.
Try them all and then decide for yourself.

VAT is 17.5%, but the Import Duty for a guitar is 3.5%.

The problem is that the VAT is added at the very end, so it works like this

Guitar $1700
Shiping $120
Total $1820
Import duty = 3.5% of $1820 = $64
VAT on everything so far ($1884) = $330

so everything comes out to $2214
that is around £1500

If you get it second hand from America, or if it is marked/labeled as a gift, you don't have to pay VAT, but still the 3.5% on the guitar. I ordered my guitar from America and alltogether it cost about £800.

Maybe if it's a guift you can get out of paying the VAT, but second hand guitar will be billed VAT.

I was very surprised that you have to pay VAT on second hand guitars but the guys that have bought guitars from the states (jono, cerealk, etc) said in another thread that you still have to pay VAT on second hand guitars from the US or Japan.
If the guitar comes from an EC/EU member state, then you don't have to pay VAT on second hand goods.

You can get better prices from Europe too. Try www.thomann.de, I've ordered from them and the service has been really great. They are asking ~1450£ for the VWH and ~1000£ for the DBK.

I think Patrick Deno who writes here works for them so he can probably tell more
