Re: universe UV 777 BK

22 gauge AWG cabling
2 500k DiMarzio pots
5 way 'JEM' switch either from Ibanez or DiMarzio - contact either company, they'll know what you mean.
0.22 Micro Farad capacitor for the tone pot
DiMarzio Barrel jack

You can get the pickguard from Cottam Guitars or these guys will probably make you one
http://stores.e-bay.co.uk/Jeannie-Pi...d-Guitar-Parts

take the hyphen out of e-bay to use the link.

Re: universe UV 777 BK

capacitor should be 0.022uF. Also, you'll need a 330pF capacitor for treble bleed. All RGs have them, probably UV too.

My mistake, I did in fact miss a 0, haha.

If you want less roll off on the tone knob, go for a 0.047uF, I personally prefer these.

There is no treble bleed on either my late JEM or current UV.

Re: universe UV 777 BK

actually, with 0.047uF you will have more treble roll off, higher capacitance means lower frequencies may pass to ground and thus be eliminated from the signal.

Math fail.

I'm supposed to be an electrical engineer too.

I'll think a little more before I say anything else.

Well, to state the obvious:

http://www.ibanezrules.com/parts.htm

I swapped out a lot of parts on a UV and got all of them from Rich. Was delivered to europe within a few days wihout any issues.

***** Would buy again from this seller

Re: universe UV 777 BK

why linear taper pot for volume pot? Volume and gain controls should be logarithmic. With linear pots volume jump would be huge when you roll from zero towards the midpoint and then unnoticeable the rest of the pot travel.
CTS are fine but folks who like lower friction pots will probably want something else. I'm very pleased with bourns pro audio guitar pots.

btw, you can find mirror pickguard here http://home.comcast.net/~pickguards/

cheers

Re: universe UV 777 BK

As i'm working on the electronic changes, i'd like by the way change the pickups.

Are the 7 strings evolution pickups worth for that universe?

What is your experience about that pickups........( sound, versatility.... )

THHAAANNXXXX!!!!

Still not 100%, are you asking if the EVO is worth putting in the UV?

If so, the stock Blaze pickups are very airy and scooped. I personally think they have a great feel and work really well for rock and shreddy stuff. If you want a bit more power, focus and tightness, then the EVO is worth it. If you like your UV to sound more like Steve's did (PAW era) with a bit of sag and crunch rather than tight and focussed, then I'd stick with the Blaze. The Blaze seems to be quite an unpopular pickup aftermarket, most of the users of them are people who have them in their UV's as stock.

I really like the blaze personally.
