UV777BK - Is the year significant?

I'm gonna be unloading my UV and have seen people say "pre '99" in other for sale ads. What gives? Mine is a '98 and seems to be identical(from what a pic can show) to later models. Thanks for any info. Z

the body pyramid inlay is more detailed, and minor quality control issues seem to be absent. My UV777BK was from the first batch and it is *very* high in quality IMHO... glen

Hum... i didn't knew about that. But in practice, does it means that the guitar doesn't stay in tune or something? And how can i tell if an UV has this problem?

Wasn't there an issue in question a while back regarding the positioning of the bridge of some of these a while back? It was before Jemsite was updated. I thought I remember something being mentioned that either the bridges were slightly offset or the pickguards were. I think it came up because someone's Lo-Pro Edge on there UV777BK was rubbing against the pickguard. Does anyone else recall this? MY UV is from '98 and the treble corner rubs the pickguard edge a little but has caused no problems for me. Is this similar to the issues that were being discussed?

Pickguard interference is a case by case problem, but Mike, if your pickguard is in contact with the trem then you are never returning to "free" neutral. It is a problem, you just aren't recognizing it

Mine had the knife edge/post problem. I had to widdle down the knife edge several times. Ibanez fixed me up with a warrenty plate... Problem gone. I was lucky, as there aren't really any spare trem parts laying around, as a general rule. Nice folks there.

I happen to know that Rich stocks a couple though. Gonna' have to call you again one of these days old man.

The UV777PBK is still one of my favorite guitars. Since I have 3, the BK is dropped to A and sounds great.

Do ALL UV's produced in that period have the knife edge problem?
