UV77RE

in quality, tone, craftsmanship etc., it the uv77re better than the uv7bk? because honestly, id rather pay $1200ish for a uv7bk, swirl it (with pickguard on if it works?) if it doesnt theres always ways to fill the wood, reroute to have a back mounted and put the clear guard on) and do the inlays. save $6000 for the same quality and maybe better sound due to aged wood. is this the case or am i missing something besides the face that its not an "official" uv77re?

Re: UV77RE

The UV77MCRE is a collectable guitar and a limited edition. That's why the price if $ 6000.-

The guitar is made by a little custom shop, so the quality is very high and probably much better the old UV's.

If you want a guitar with a swirl, you can buy a MKR swirl, reswirl it and you can save a few bucks.

The uv7BK is front routed, so you'll need to do some work if you want to swirl it. Or buy a new body.

Re: UV77RE

The RE is a great instrument and better quality that the original ones. I got both and the RE is definitely an outstanding guitar. Like someone else said though, just get an MKR for ~3k and swirl that if you dont care about it being an RE

Re: UV77RE

see, i dont care if its a collectable, im going to tune it to ADGCFAD and play it and change strings and get pissed at the trem like i would with any other guitar because collectors item or not, all the parts and pickups work perfectly so ill play it. its what it was meant for otherwise nothing would work, it would just LOOK good. but thats all off topic. and i didnt know they were made in a different place so quality would DEFINATELY be higher. but in the end, its still basswood and dimarzios so i still think the uv7bk would SOUND better

Re: UV77RE

Funny... I didn't read any hostility until your last post.

I was sort of wondering the same question.

Re: UV77RE

As Rich mentioned in the other UV77RE thread, the BKs come from the Fujigen factory and the REs come from the Sugi custom shop, so there is a noticeable difference in build quality.

Why will the production guitar "sound" better? I think this will depend on the actual pieces of wood that are put together for the individual guitars. I think it's more likely that you'll not really be able to tell much of a difference in sound rather than one sounding better than the other. Especially if you downtune and play with lots of gain.

Re: UV77RE

well ive always gotten better sounds out of older guitars. my dad has a 99 uv777 and an 09 uv777. the 99 sounds way better. same with his 91 vs 98 rg570. i dont know if that was just a coincidence that both the older ones were better or not. i just wanted some other opinions, thats all. id be more than happy for this thread to be closed aaaaany time. its apparently useless

Guitars do "open up" or mellow with playing time, but this is much more pronounced with acoustics.

Peace
