Vai's EVO guitar and PIA guitar

I was on Vai.com and noticed a considerable change to EVO... a white headstock! Now I know on the last leg of the G3 tour EVO had a black headstock. No gold hardware and 'KNOX' sticker on the neck pickup and a full vine ebony fingerboard. Is this simply an airbrush required by Ibanez or a new neck?

One more thing I noticed on Vai.com. The guitar Steve used on the Grammys was called 'PIA'. I mistook this as 'FLO' due to the sustainer system in it. At least it boasts the switching system and extra knob for a sustainer. But notice the tuners and you'll clearly see this is a new Jem for Steve. Another observation - I was looking closely at the driver for the sustainer and it appears to have pole pieces. Seems odd since the Sustainiac driver is on top and the dummy on the bottom.

Did a search and didn't see this posted before, so if it was, link me to it.

I noticed it all except for the driver. Vai switches things up all the time. With him who knows what will stick around for the next jem.

Stevie recently recieved 5 vwh necks with rosewood boards he's using. He also had 1 or 2 (not sure) full custom jems recently built, ground up with sustainer installed (1 might have piezo, not sure). They have huge control cavities in back.

Hehe, evidently you guys don't pay enough attention. The necks were reported on the forum sometime late last year/early this, with a link to a pic that showed all 5 necks backstage (I think it's on vai.com somewhere). The back of one of his new whites was also shown in another post showing the huge control cover. The pic and details I have of it before delivery, well, that's inside If you guys paid attention you'd know almost as much as me, I just pay attention

Agreed!! I thought it was a D-E and not a Sustainer, cuz the knob config. looked way too familiar to be a coincidence.

Fernandes does make Sustainer guitars that have neck pickup/driver units that have pole pieces just like conventional humbuckers and single coils.

They also have pictures demonstrating the installation of a home sustainer kit on a 7-string in their catalogue...isn't that odd...
