my only advice is take it to someone who won't screw it up. i've seen people mess them up, not a good thing.

The 101 seems to be the most popular.

www.sustainiac.com does one too.

I keep thinking I should do this with my Jem, but I'm hesitant as it's my only "superstrat" with a trem. And it's gorgeous. And out of production.

I've got one on my PC1 and its pretty cool to mess around with, but not sure that I'd want to install one in any other guitar. Lots of knobs and switches!

Re: wanting to install a sustainer in my jem 7v

I have a sustainiac stealth plus in my RG and I've been really happy with it. I picked that one because it also functions as a neck humbucker. It's not the best sounding neck humbucker I've ever heard or anything but it isn't half bad. I believe the required route is smaller for a sustainiac too.

Re: wanting to install a sustainer in my jem 7v

Be careful with sustainiac.......It's been one year and my sustainer in my 7420 STILL isn't up and running. This is even after my tech sent it back to them, body included. Between my tech I sent it off to and sustainiac, I don't know which one has been worse? I do reserve all my negativity towards sustainiac and their people until I get the guitar back in my hands. That's when I'll promptly yank all the electronics out of it, box it up, and send it back to them. I went out and did the easy and best thing......Went and bought a PC-1 like pictured above.

Sorry for the rant....

Installing mine did involve a few trips to the shop and ultimately sending the whole guitar to manic music in indianapolis..

Nice swirl / setup.

I've read that you shouldn't place a pickup next to the sustainiac, or probably any sustainer for that matter because of the field intereference it can cause. How has this worked out for you?

That looks like a blank pup cover next to the sustainer.

I cant tell how the pup screw in the center is holding them both in place.

Are they push pull activated, I cant seen any dpdt switches on there

Ahh, maybe it is. I didn't enlarge the pic to get a closer look.

Sustainiac do specialise in modifying push pull pots to eleminate any switching noise, so it could well be push pull setup.

Yeah thats a dummy pup next to the sustainiac . The extra knob has pull push to control the sus .
