Wanting to make a RB jem finish on an RG - Basswood
I have used the search option on Jemsite, but did not come up with an answer I was satisfied with. I am thinking about having a sun-bleached white RG350 finished like a RBjem. Both guitar bodies are made from basswood, but I'm not going to put the grip or lion claw on the body before finishing. Does anyone know what color stain was used for the darker version, or suggest a colored stain to put over the basswood to closely simulate the real guitar? I know that a heat gun is used to make random burnt markings, but how did they get that carmelized appearance with the original? I did some research and looked at stain samples to get see different colors, and I like cherry stain the best. I was either going to go with purple or pink pups to finish the guitar off, and all other wardware will be black. Thanks for the help!
