Went with DNA Swirl

After much consideration I decided on a DNA swirl for my 777SK. Just got everything back... As shown in the photo, I had a plate made to mount the controls and will use an NOS clear pickguard (thanks Rich!)

Thanks. I'm really happy with the colors. And I'm pretty picky!

Next project is body mounting all the electronics... THEN she assembles

Cool. Who swirled it? and what did you do to the front routing?

This is the first of Nate Perle's swirls after he made some process changes. I was very insistent on dark rich colors and told him I did not want "pastel" colors at all. He listened and I feel he really delivered!

He also made and fitted a custom plate to cover the front control route and swirled it with the body. That is one way to run a clear pickguard on a front-route body and hide the electronics.

Yes, I could have replaced the body with a front route. But I feel that this guitar's soul is in its body so I wanted to keep my original 777 body.

Here's the headstock. It's painted black with a green sticky designs JEM decal, then clear coated

Hot stuff brother! Looks very nice! First Maple/Pyamid DNA. Surely looks great when it's completely done. Keep on.

I selected colors that I thought would look best together and complement the disappearing pyramids. Yeah, i know "technically" it ain't right but I like it

Re: Went with DNA Swirl

The only thing "not right" would be to do a project like this and simply copy an existing guitar, tons of people do that....it's better to do something "not right" like what you did . I must say though, I dont like swirls but yours is one of the only ones that I think looks good. The whole "no pastels" thing was a good choice IMO, it came out looking very rich and deep.

Re: Went with DNA Swirl

All green pickups + electronics should look decent with the swirl too...
Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the gray paint without damaging the original green?

And the back:

I like it a lot but I don't wish the front was the back...

I agree that the black really makes this swirl.

I love the swirl. Im not sure what to think of that plate though. Are you going to put a clear gaurd over it or leave it like that? Im only curious. Cool thing about guitars......it doesnt matter what any of us think, its what makes you happy
