What is the Jem10 fretboard bound with?

Is it abalone all around the fretboard?

I think my custommade guitar will be white/gold, like the JEMVWH and with the fretboard of the JEM10, bound ebony with abalone vine rank..
What do you think? =)

Jeepers... I'm trying to remember back when I had my 10th... I think the fretboard is bound in Mother Of Pearl. The top fret dot markers are Abalone. The headstock is bound in Abalone, as is the body.

Guys, please correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as your idea - GO FOR IT! I recommend a Pao Ferro (sp?) rosewood fingerboard. VIBRANT colors and not as hard as ebony. The contrast would be striking. What color is the headstock going to be? I feel the abalone body and headstock binding might look a odd on a white guitar. But I need to see visuals I guess to determine that.

It's not mother-of-pearl... it's pearloid plastic, a.k.a. mother-of-toilet-seat. Mother-of-pearl is too brittle (it can't really be bent) and comes in pieces too small for it to be used effectively as binding material.

The JEM10 uses mother-of-pearl (or abalone) for the purfling on the body and headstock (which is just surface inlay inside the edges of the binding) and pearloid binding on the body, neck and headstock.

There will be NO binding on the headstock or the body, just the fretboard!

The guitar will be like the JEM VWH only with the fretboard of the JEM10..

Ok, so it's just perloid, synthetic pearl

I sure hope so, but I havn't decided yet... Somehow I think that the perloid white plastic that covers the major inlays in the VWH really fits well.. Since the body is white...

too much abalone maybe would look wierd on there..
Someone who's really handy with Photoshop maybe could make a JEM Vwh with the fretboard of the JEM10...

It's a hard decision...

The correct name of this wood is PAU-FERRO
Pau= wood
Ferro= iron
Is this cool ???
This wood (pau-ferro) is very good to use in fingerboards and it's found in great amount here in Brazil.
The pau-ferro and the rosewood are the same wood, seemed in their quality and aplications.
But pau-ferro isn't too dark, and sonds better to my ears. Good choose.
I hope that this has helped!
