What is my UV777 worth ?

Hi guys .my Universe is in great cosmetic condition. I want to sell some of my unused gear and I've noticed that prices on these vary a lot . $1,400.00 up to 2 grand . Curious on your opinions.

This may or may not be helpful:

More details and better pics would be needed if you were to actually put it up for sale, but with that said, $1500-$1600 seems where a reasonable seller and a reasonable buyer are more likely to meet.

I'd say list it high and accept offers. It looks very clean and all original with case + candy to boot. Not to mention an early model.

But what's with the scotch tape on the first fret over the e&b?

I'd guess that it was used for recording and the tape was to mute noise from unplayed strings. This is common in modern tight metal recording.
