What pots should I buy for my Jem build?

From what I understand, I need get two 500k pots. But there are a few different options for each, linear, push/pull, etc. I'm just looking for a little clarification of each and some recommendations for my guitar. The pickups I have are: Evolution Neck, Evolution single, and Evo 2 in the bridge.

I didnt know that the type of pots would be all that important. I don't get it. Does it really matter? And if so, then why?

This is why I asked the question.......... There are so many different options that I figured each one must have its own characteristics. From what I've read 500k pots are for humbuckers, and 250k pots are for single coils. My guitar will have both HB and SC. There are also audio taper pots, and linear pots. Each of which has it's own characteristics. I just wanted to get someone else's opinion on it that was knowledgable of the subject before I make a purchase.

I've got a whole section on potentiometers in my newly stickied thread about wiring--did you look through it?

After some reading, it seems like 500k audio pots are the better choice. And now I am skeptical of the 5-way switch I bought from Warmoth. Mine looks nothing like the one shown in that thread.

There are several different types of 5-way switches. The RGs use the YM-50, but I suggest a super or mega switch--more wiring options...

Yes--500K pots for humbuckers, as 250K will bleed treble...

I just want a standard 5 way switch, is the one on the Jem set up a certain way that is different than normal?

The Jem switch is not a "standard" switch, it's a multipole. Go back to my thread and look at the first post--pictures of the RG type YM-50 and the Jem switches:

If you want the Ibanez replacements, contact Rich at IbanezRules. If you don't buy the right size Pots, the shaft will be to big and you will have to drill them out.

This is the switch I bought. It was only like $12, but if it can do the same switching that is standard on a Jem I'll be okay with that.

And if not, I'll send you all a bill for the difference!
