Re: What a shame....:-(

When does a JEM stop being a JEM... To be honest, if it were not a previously pink one, it would be a nice "tribute" guitar

Nope didn't see it yet.

In fact if it is like this one, or worse, I DO NOT want to spend time in that case

Nothing wrong with this. Natural finishes will always be more beautiful than those ****ing neons.

I wholeheartedly disagree with Bizarre's opinion on neons, but...

I kinda like this one. It hurts my heart a little that an SK was the donor, but I think this one turned out kinda cool.

Its cool. At least you can recognise a cool guitar. I think this forum has too much of a hivemind to do that sometimes. Its fine that swirls and neons do it for some people, but when a guitar looks perfectly fine and people are throwing **** on it because it isn't a neon or a swirl I think a line is crossed.

I agree totally. I love the neons and swirls for what they are, but they're not the be-all, end-all of my interests. I love natural finishes on guitars too.

That being said, I think the attitude toward this particular guitar is because people don't like to see a classic guitar so heavily (and practically irreversibly) modded. Although, 10 years ago it was all the rage to buy and strip used DYs specifically as swirl donors...

That's one of the age old questions though!

(I might even make a poll!!!)

Is it a refinished JEM with a replacement body, or a custom with JEM neck and hardware...

As Rich pointed out--if it's a real Jem neck, then it can legally have the logo. If you were to ever sell it, then it's an integrity issue to disclose the aftermarket body.
