The JS model was introduced back in 1990 before they were named Radius.

So, an '89 should be the original shape and neck profile, right?

Actually, no. The *original* shape is seen on the 1987 guitars. That shape got slimmed down and the cutaway deepened for the 1988 (sweetest) shape. I think (Falbo must enter to correct me) that the sweet shape lived on at least a year into the JS series shape before the JS shape took over and the Radius and the JS were the same even though offered separately. Your '89 I believe would be one of the sweeties.

I own a 1987 'sweetie' (like the pink one above) in white.
Absolutely love it. Reminds me of a half sucked peardrop.

Mini dots and Jumbo frets are a great combo

Has anyone ever seen the Roadstar which has the usual Ibanez headstock but a kind of Radius shaped body? 540 I believe.

Yeah Ibanez did change their specs a lot back then.

Cool ^, you can see how the lower horn, how it looks more deep on the 90 compared to the 87, that is neat.

Nice pics.

I think that's a trick of light. The 90 and 88 both have a cutaway that runs even with the 22nd fret (also even with the end of the neck pocket). This is the same on the JS and every radius I've seen except the 87, which is shallower. The differences between 88, 90, and JS are elsewhere.

Yep, I had one- a Roadstar Pro 540-R Radius. It said Roadstar Pro on the headstock but had the traditional Ibanez shape. The body and features were a radius all the way. It was the transition model from the Roadstar to the Radius. Mine had the 3 mini toggles also ('87 Model I think?). Anyway, it rocked. I have pics that I will post if I ever figure out how to post them here...

That's what we're calling the original 87 adius. All the ones I've seen had "Roadstar Pro" on the headstock.

Yep that's the one. I've only ever seen my one, and now your one. Here's mine, with an eye catching finish.
