Any year from '93-'02, IMHO. As long as it doesn't have the cheesy new trem, they're all the same.

I think the '97 in the picture would be just as good as any of the untold thousands of JEM7VWHs hade between 1993 and 2002.

Aside from slight differences such as the clarity of inlay in the 21-24th frets, there weren't any changes made in those years. One '97 is just as good as any other.

IMO 2000-2003, what's the point of having inlays in the scallops if they're burnt dark and you can't see them [plus the scallop width has much tighter QC]

i'd go by price, condition and "seller" & also what rich said..

VWH Scalloping - The scalloped fretboard (frets 21-24) will cause some fading or discoloration to the small abalone inlays on fret 24. This is absolutely normal and not a blemish or defect, and is inevitable due to the scalloping of the inlay itself along with the fretbaord wood. Around 1999 Ibanez began implimenting an improved technique of scalloping the fretbaord (and inlay) so as to attempt at allowing the abalone inlay to appear more vibrant and natural.

Guess I havent seen many many VWHs!! The 2nd picture intrigues me a little.
I had never seen one with its neck having all these tiger stripes at the back. Is that very common? I have a 98 VWH and my neck finish is just plain...no stripes at all!
I like the plain finish better though!

That's not a finish, it's a figuring in the wood

Thats Very VERY figured maple on the neck!! Makes me think its a after market neck. You dont see that everyday, sometimes a very little amount or desent amount of figure in maple is normal but thats is alot, thats like AA atleast!

What I desperately want to know is:

1) why is nobody commenting on the fact that the door in the photograph is styled like a 7VWH? White paintjob, gold hardware!

2) Why is the door in the photograph so short?

3) With a handle at the top?

Lonely bachelor number one wants to know.
