I don't know how well the '30 JEMs sold, but I guess quite well?
How would the market react to the V'editions (Vines and rosewood(?) fretboards).
There were no Vine LNG, and the VSK is the rarest JEM to date, so I guess a few hundred collectors would go mad, but is that enough to tease Ibanez into making them?
It's been discussed in the ongoing 30th speculation thread. I think it's safe to say JEM30s are sold out at the distributor level which is all that Ibanez cares about. The market can sustain another trio in 2019 (depending on production totals) following the UV/PAW and 777/30 but...
They should regroup with a 5-7 year plan. Steve is at or close to the "greatest hits" or nostalgia stage of his career (touring PAW an album 27 years old in Sept) so why not let the JEMs be there too. Start to shorten production since these are basically cookie-cutter production anyways (visual changes).
One thing long overdue is sustainer inclusion for Fuji Prestige.Sustainer is used for most of Vai's live shows for 2 decades now and it's omission in the JEM lineup is nothing short of embarrassing for a "signature model".
For Premium do whatever who cares, sales are gravy not the $$$$ greatest hits nostalgia buyers. Prestige UV really has an identity crisis, that should be considered 100% independent of any JEM roadmap.
All Fuji made Prestige for the greatest hits & some surprises phase...
2018 FP3 unlimited production (ending the FP2 as sales tricking down)
2018 JEM7PBK w/Sustainer (large grip ala despagni's jem) limited production to orders placed thru MM/DD/YYYY (assuming the JS
sustainer is without problems)
2019 JEM777VDY/VSK limited production to orders placed thru MM/DD/YYYY
2020 JEM7FLOREMIX white JEM, abalone pyramids, SUSTAINER, chrome hardware (unlimited production but pressure distributors might be capped at 250-350 (NOT SUGI))
2021 JEM777VLG limited production to orders placed thru MM/DD/YYYY
2022 JEM7RB limited production to orders placed thru MM/DD/YYYY. No "35th anniversary" that just sounds cheesy & totally predictable (like a retirement tour set list).
