Would this be a good investment?

I am dead set on buying a JEM7VWH, but I have a question.

Would it be worth buying from ibanezrules.com to get the locking stud mod? Or should I just buy it stock?

Thanks,

-Matt

Re: Would this be a good investment?

I would definitely buy it from Rich (Ibanezrules) for numerous reasons. The locking stud mod being one of many.

I say buy from Rich. As well as the locking stud mod, you'll get the jem with a great set-up

That is a no-brainer.I know you can trust Rich.......not sure about any other deal you might have brewing....but Ibanez Rules has devoted more time to Jemsiters than anyone else selling Ibanez guitars -period- that alone should make your decision clear.

Re: Would this be a good investment?

+1. go for the Rich "tweaked" version. if there are any issues (and sometimes there are) he will sort them out so you get a perfect playing guitar. i have yet to find another shop that knows as much and will take the kind of time to set up a tremmed Ibanez as he does. it seems like a labor of love for him so the extra $ is the "love" the guitar gets before it arrives which makes for a more well adjusted child. worth every penny IMHO.

Sorry MALAM, you're outvoted 6 to 1.

I guess I will buy it from ibanezrules. I think it comes to about the same price as a stock one, but it's all set up and stuff.

Thanks for the help guys!

Re: Would this be a good investment?

Stock schmock.

With Rich you are not only getting the locking studs, you are getting a full setup. It is not a trivial endeavor time-wise to set up a trem properly and intonate the guitar. Nor is it something that most people know how to do. And Rich will even shave or shim the nut to get you the most primo action possible. Not to mention the fret level and dress.

The attention to detail setups he does are not something you are going to get at a local shop. And he is the big daddy of Ibanez to boot.

Good to hear he's so well trusted.

Now all I need to do is save up those measly paychecks of $150... until I get to $2300...

This is gonna take a while...

I say but it stock. You can shop around to get the lowest price. That's what I like about authorized retailers: competition.

Re: Would this be a good investment?

Whoever you buy it from (and Rich IS a good guy), it isn't an "investment". Mutual Funds are an investment. Real estate is an investment.

Guitar is a money pit. A fun one that warms the loins, but a money pit nonetheless.
