WOW, EMG's in a Jem 7dbk..... - Sound absolutely great, trus

Ok, as most of you know Ive recently been looking for a new set of pickups to grace my Jem 7DBK. *After help and insight from many of you - followed by a lot of information searching, I decided to go active with EMG's. *I have an EMG 81 in the bridge, and an EMG 85 in the neck, and let me tell you......THEY ROCK!!

They really bring the life out of the DBK in a way I didnt think possible. *The 81 in the bridge sounds tight, aggressive, chunky, and focused all at the same time. *The 85 plays a great role as the neck pickup as well sounding good for both some clean tones and lead work. *I thank all of you again for your insight on my pickup search. *I have found what I was looking for!! *If any of you are skeptical about EMG's in a me. *It works *:-)

i have an EMG 81 in the bridge of my SG and it sounds awesome. but i think i'm starting to like the Breeds a little more. were there any problems with the jack or room for the battery? thats the only thing i don't like about active pups, don't know how many batteries i wasted by leaving the guitar plugged in.

I think the general consensus is that EMGs are great for anything heavy, and great for leads....while they aren't real versatile pickups, they are great for what they are designed for....namely, kicking ass! *

Yeah, you have a good point there Trouble. *While I wont be jamming out some cream of Clapton with an EMG 81 in the bridge, I will certainly be able to nail a great Metallica "And Justice" kind of tone. *EMG's do heavier music very well.

MINDGRIP - the battery actually did have to go in another place. *It was put under the back-plate on the back of the guitar in the reservoir there. *Its good to go *:-) *Check this out though, my guitar was wired for EMG's along with the Dimarzio single coil in the middle!! *While the outputs are way different, and it sounds a little funky, the tech thought I should have the option if I wanted it. *It does add a little noise to the EMG's that wouldnt normally be there though....
