Question WoWoW syndrome re-revisited

hello again all...
as ive been posting about my problems with unstable sounds from Jem VSBL
ive found that if i turn my TONE controll all the way down it practically stops this from happening. say i do an artificial harmonic on the 5th fret g string(although it happens all over the place even 24th fret on every string) (bridge, pickups, springs have been tightend and dampend high action and pickups are lvl with the pickguard i even removed the single coil just to make sure) instead of sounding like it should it sounds more like a chorus with the rate and depth turned full blast but if i turn the tone controll all the way down it the note turns back to what it should???? this is driving me insane.
any ideas???
ralph buddy were getting closer!
