WTF?

Why did this GMC go so cheap?!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-Jem-7...item4189652725

I thought they are worth much much much more?

I was planning on buying an SK but if the swirls go that cheap then I feel like its better to nab one of those.

Re: WTF?

'Shipping: May not ship to the United Kingdom', plus a seller with only 3 feedback isn't encouraging...

Re: WTF?

It sold that cheap because the seller put a $2080 BIN on it and no-one put in a starting bid at $1600 to knock the BIN out. Not rocket science.

Something is really fishy about that guitar. The swirl does not look like one of Darren's.

Re: WTF?

I 'm no swirl expert but, I wondered a bit about how the paintwork could loosen that much from the body near the bridge. It is hard to say. But the neckplate seems to have 1 in the second number. It should be 2 or 3 ?. I was close to buying this one. In the future i think i need to see pictures from the neckpocket for stamps. Are there many fake GMC PMC bodies out there ?

Re: WTF?

These guitars are actually very prone to clearcoat damage like that. The clear just doesn't adhere to the swirl that well. Also, all GMC's and PMC's have 91XXXX serial numbers. They were made in 1991 and sold in 1992 and 1993.

The colors on that swirl look way too thin and faded and the swirl itself has a lot of runs. If you forced me to guess, I'd say the guitar is a '91 VBK donor with an aftermarket body.

Based on the 3 I've owned, that's an ATD all day long.

I don't know what you are looking at, but that looks just like one of his (textbook Darren).
