It needs to have a floating trem and not necessarily an ibanez...preferable yes but necessary no.

I'm a big fan of my RG2550... It was under $1000.

Re: $1000 and i dont know which guitar to get any suggestions

I think you will hear 400 different suggestions. Your request is way to broad.
What style music do you play, what shape guitar do you like, what neck do you like. Specific Brand ???

Re: $1000 and i dont know which guitar to get any suggestions

I second that. RG550 all the way. One of the best damn guitars I've ever played. All you need is a pickup change and you're there. Plus, with the new RG series (2550, etc), you can't get the Edge or Lo Pro trems, which are superior in my opinion.

Re: $1000 and i dont know which guitar to get any suggestions

i'll narrow it down a bit.... i like metal, shred, prog rock and others, but mainly those three. I want a guitar that i wont need to have work done on every week becuz the tremolo is broken or w/e
