Re: 100+ Year Old Ibanez

to the OP - The Ibanez referenced in that article is not the same Ibanez this forum is concerned with. Hoshino Gakki used the name Ibanez long after the luthier who built that guitar died.

Cool guitar. Well, the name Ibanez came from somewhere. My mom is mexican, and when she first saw them she thought they were spanish.

Tip - Trash dump, landfill, etc.
Fiver = Five pound note.

In the article it says "The original Ibanez workshops were destroyed in the Spanish Civil War and the brand sold to a Japanese entrepreneur who concentrated on more commercial guitars, Shaun said."

So in a way this is the start of Ibanez as we know it today.

Thank you - I was going to put the same quote in response. My point about the history of Ibanez was that I never had a clue (I never looked for it either) about how s guitar brand with a Spanish name was owned by a Japanese company and often wondered what Ibanez was before Hoshino.

Sooo..... Does that mean the strings smell like a 'running-of-the-bulls' victim instead?
