Question 1991 R540LTD neck pocket stamp

I just picked this up. The serial number on the neck indicates it is a 1991, but it is a Wizard neck, so I presume it was swapped with an S540 of the same vintage, as the 91 R series had the Ultra neck. Does anyone know what the stamp in the neck pocket indicates? H&S 01R - 1H. I know H&S indicates it was assembled in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. I assume the 01R indicates radius, but his has Hum - Single - Hum configuration, so I don't know what the 1H is for. Anyone know?

Re: 1991 R540LTD neck pocket stamp

The R540LTD had, I believe, a Wizard neck which differed from the standard R series at the time. No idea on the H&S or the 01R bits though!

~Edit~ it was 92 that they put the Wizard neck on the R540LTD, but if it's a late in the year 91 it'll be build to 92 specs. I have an RG770DX with a 91 serial number and 92 specs along that line.

That's crazy! I just picked up a '91 LTD in black a few months ago. I'll have to take the neck off now, I've never played an ultra neck for reference... I have played a wizard. I am curious now. The red looks super nice thought for a 30 y/o guitar. Nice find.

Wizard Angled Locking Rosewood Jumbo, and I forget what T is.

01R - I'd be guessing 1st gen H&S Radius
1H - 1 Humbucker as all H&S bodies were sent over with only a single humbucker rout. Everything else was routed by H&S per order and then painted. You could also have it mated to whatever neck you wanted. H&S was a semi custom shop for dealers that knew how to use it and order right.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think about it being a late model 91, which could have had a 92 neck. The guitar is in great shape, I will post pics once it is reassembled. I am a bit bummed that it is a Wizard neck though, I have had a bunch of those. I really like the Ultra profle.

Wizard Angled Locking Rosewood Jumbo - Teeth

And thats not "1H" thats "IH". I haven't sorted what the "I" could possibly be yet, but i know it has something to do with the heel, because on the all access neck joint models, theres no "H" stamp at all but theres now an "AA" stamp instead.

01R instead of 540R though is something I'll have to bake my noodle on for a bit....

Here are a couple of pics. The pickup cover on the middle was broken, so I will have to replace it at some point.

Doh, I didn't look at the subject, LTD. I was having a senior moment.

Teeth, mine are soaking.

01S is an S right? Don't expect consistency,, that every year or everytime the floor manager decides to change the designation it's different. As long as the guys on the other end know what it means.

Maybe the Japanese word for 1 starts with I

Something Heel maybe?

I was totally on board the "1h" train until I came across that AANJ that is instead stamped "AA" with no "H" stamp at all. It seems wayyy to coincidental for that to just be unrelated imo.

The best part about that square (fender style) neck pocket... You don't need an ibanez replacement neck! You could always keep the neck (for resale purposes) and just get a custom one built to your liking. One with all the bells and whistles would run you about $350. I'm still waiting on my custom neck for my Radius... I ordered it at the end of November <img src="http://www.jemsite.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Sad" class="inlineimg" /> . I ordered from "bestguitarparts.com" It'll be my second neck from them. They make great stuff... But the frets need finishing when you get the neck (Leveling, crowning, polishing). Warmoth does a bit more finishing than BGP does but something about BGP necks man... they kick ass.
