1996 SF 420 FM

Hi All,

I am brand new here, but not to owning Ibanez guitars. I just acquired a 1996 SF420 FM (Green). The serial numbers is: C 6057047. I am putting Wilkinson locking tuners on it and Lace Deathbuckers in it. Since this guitar was only made for 1 year, it has been pretty had to find any info on it. does anyone have any experience with this model or info on it?

Well I know it's not MIJ with the Serial being a C. Was that Korea? I forgot exactly.

They were kind of a half way point between the S series and the S Classic models. Longer 25.5 scale of the S series with the wraparound bridge of the S Classic.

Re: 1996 SF 420 FM

Korea, as noted.
2 colors, Translucent Turquoise and Black Pearl.
The hardware color is not made by Ibanez anymore. It's not the same as on the s classic guitars.
The body is larger than an S to make up in weight for not having a trem bridge.
I think they feel great, like an Ibanez-ed version of a '54 Les Paul.
Some one some time said the neck was a Viper. IDK but I liked it.
I moved from the TT to the BP after a while. Then I screwed up the finish on the BP getting a dent out.

Re: 1996 SF 420 FM

Hi, I'm brand new to EVERYTHING. So I picked up a Ibanez SF420FM, Green in Excellant Pristine condition, for $259 with new strings and cable, and
a BOSS KAntana 50 Mk II for $149 brand new.....I was out the door, for under $450...I think I got a good deal?
Anyway, since the amp is new I have the manuals, looking into downloading effects software for the PC.

What I do not have is anything on the Ibanez SF420FM. I tried to find a manual but, no go (Im aware it was only made for a year in 1996..kinda rare it seems>)

So what do I need to know ?

Re: 1996 SF 420 FM

Nice! Seems like a good deal... Those Korean made guitars of that era are really underrated. Love the color! That's a nice bridge on there too, should be a great guitar/amp setup for you.

Good luck!
