29+ fret guitars

I know Gary Kramer guitars make a 7 string 36 fretter. Any other companies do this?

Re: 29+ fret guitars

I've never been a Dean fan, but they are making a limited edition Uli Jon Roth sky guitar. They have like 31 frets, there is also a 7-string version.

Conklin guitars. But those are mostly custom orders.

I don't think there's anything else even remotely in the Kramer R36 Turbulence price range.

Re: 29+ fret guitars

1989 Ibanez Artfield AFD40 = 30 frets.

1989 Ibanez Maxxis MX4 = 29 frets.

Would love to try any of these,i liked the Caparison Horus a little, but i think (IMO) the shorter scale length wrecked it big time.

Oh sorry, did it had to be over 36 frets?

Re: 29+ fret guitars

Washburn brought out 2 models in the 80's, the EC29 and the EC36. I think both of these featured what they called the 'Stephens Extended Cutaway' and as the model name suggests had 29 and 36 frets respectively:

EDIT: Just noticed that this is a 7 string question. Apologies. Ah well, have a look at the pics anyway.

Re: 29+ fret guitars

I know it doesn't really fit here, but the Jackson 'Falcon' from Japan, 1992/3 is very beautiful. Also the Veillette 'Steve Nishimura' - I know it's a Bass, the Edwards 'Kiko Louriero', the Abstract 'Kingpin' and Auerswald 'Barracuda' from Ed Roman and finally the beautiful Hamer 'Virtuoso'.

All 6 strings except the Veillette.

Re: 29+ fret guitars

I think Oni Guitars do or would do 27+ frets, same with Roter.

Re: 29+ fret guitars

I'm building a 36 (full) fret neck through. Bit off topic. I was looking around to buy a 24+ fret guitar. The Danelectro/Hondo Guitarlin was one option but it looks too corny. Next I was looking at the Gary Kramer R-29 but I was turned off by the cutaway not extending fully to the 29th fret. The 36 fret GK one really was a great concept but to not be able to easily get my hand up to the top frets turned me off.

I knew of the EC Washburns, but also ran across something by Hamer called a Virtuoso which had 36 frets, scalloped, and tremolo. That's when I got the inspiration to build one myself.
