3 new guitars (plus, a pickup question)

Hey all,

Just won three new guitars from the 'bay, 3 classic Kramer baretta's from 1984-1987.

They come equipped with Seymour Duncan JB pickups; the only brand of pickups I have had no experience with. So what should I expect from the JB's? If the output isn't high enough, I'll probably end up replacing them with EMG-81's (like my other '84 Baretta), though I'd kind of like a different range of sounds, if they're GOOD sounds.

The auction says that the blue one has a two-tone pickup... no clue what that means. Anyone else?

Yes, I could see that. But "two tone" indicates that it has something to do with the sound, given the importance of "tone" with guitars. Heh.

Most def colours.
Two tone pickup also called zebra pickup.
Nice score on the Kramers, I used to have a Pacer Custom II (S/S/H with the slanted humbucker and 3 separate on/off switches) around 1990 and it was great.

Yeah, those Kramers look awesome. They hardly ever turn up here in the UK though, those old ones. I wouldnt mind picking up an old 80's model, maybe a Pacer or Baretta. But as I say, over here in the UK there isnt much chance! Nice score, and love that two-tone finish!

When I was looking for mine I phoned (literally) every shop and still didn't find one! In the end Ebay was the way to go!! I got an 82 pacer specail with a single bridge hum and a beak neck, I was happy! Its now got a Dimarzio Double Whammy in the bridge and it sounds killer!

Maybe the two tone thing relates to the Joe Barden Two Tone pickup? (Unlikely but it is possible!) If it is I would probably sell it those things go for a bomb!
