540 Pro Transitional Model

Anybody know anything about this guitar? Worth in very good condition? Thanks-Jack.

Never heard of it. There were a few 540 models in the first year, so I wonder what it really is... Pics?

I`ll try to get some. It is burgandy with H/S/S pickups, low pro trem, sharkies, binding and USA made. Jack.

1987 was the first year for the 540 models. They were pretty established in 1989. There are catalog scans you can see on Rich's site at:

Jack sent pics. You sure that's a Lo Pro? Looks like a standard Edge. Cosmo Black. The pups are EMGs.

I guessed a modded 540s, but was there a custom one like that?

Serial #? Bensalem or Hollywood address?

OK, I found out it is a 1988. Bensalem,PA. address. All of the parts are made in Japan, and then was sent to PA to be completed. It was never in a catalog and very few were made. Jack.

I'm not sure what's "transitional" about it... looks like a pretty standard 540S to me. The pickups aren't original, so the neck might not be, either.

Nice guitar, though!
