550ing a 350ex

how much part changing is required to get on the 550 level and what should be changed out?

Re: 550ing a 350ex

Um being that a 350EX is an Indo guitar, you would need to get a custom built neck to match the old Wizard necks and have it be AANJ. Then you would need a pickup change and a pickguard change, then if you wanted to recolor it, that would also be on the list of costs.

I don't think there's a very cost efficient way to do a conversion like that unless you do it yourself.

Re: 550ing a 350ex

now now matias...all 550's weren't aanj...all of mine (mostly 570's) are square heel...lol...that being said i absolutely agree...turning a 350 into a 550 would be difficult at best...my advice?...save up and find a used (but not too abused) 550 if that's what you truly want...d.m.

My 550 was a square heel too, I said AANJ because the 350 is AANJ

Well with the 580, the 685, the 2550, 1550, and 560, a 350 is not even in the same league

the only new Ibanez I want now is an MIJ Roadcore. Other than that, I love what I have and am perfectly happy with what I have as well

Re: 550ing a 350ex

please detail us, which part of 550 , you want to be in your 350?

the trem?
the neck?
the pickups?

BUT.......... there's always a smarter move.
sell that 350 and get a real 550 ( used one).

OMG....You guys kill me.....

Millionth: It's not as bad as you may think.... the 350 can be made into a SEERIOUSLY dependable, everyday work horse without too much modification.

Let's start with finding out what year yours is.

FWIW........ I turned a '98 RG450DX into a very respectable player simply by adding a used Lo-Pro and some DiMarzio/IBZ pickups......... total cost? $120.

Re: 550ing a 350ex

mine was made in 2010 if im reading the model number correctly (I 1004) it uses an ibanez edge 3 bridge which is considered a bad trem by most it seems but this one surprised me. The edge 3 on my other ibanez couldnt stay in tune at all but this one is doing pretty good honestly

Re: 550ing a 350ex

Find yourself a used Edge Pro and some pickups you like........ If your not picky about how the trem looks, you can find some great deals.

If I were doing this again, I'd be on the hunt for some Ibanez F-series pups. You can get these pretty cheap too, if your patient........
