7 String project is FINALLY done!!

She started life as a 1999 Ibanez RG 7620. Made in Japan. I took her apart and had a friend do the custom paint. I got it back and sent it out for clear coating. Since the paint was not flat, it took 16 coats of clear to get it flat on top. It was worth it though, the clear is shiny and beautiful. It gives the paint depth. Its brilliant in my opinion. Since I do not plan to sell it, I guess that's what matters most. It has been re-assembled with all the original parts and had a complete set up. Plays like a dream. Comments?

It's Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and it looks amazing on that RG7! Congrats on the killer custom.

You need some blue/white pickups in there, though. :-)

Re: 7 String project is FINALLY done!!

I had a thread on the body a couple months ago when I got the paint done, so you may have seen it there. I was actually thinking of going with some yellow blaze 7 pups. Do you think that might look nice?

Re: 7 String project is FINALLY done!!

Can you have your friend, who did the paint job, finish the pickup covers as if they were part of the painting? I think it would look awesome!

I don't think yellow pickups will match. You can always try it in photoshop though.

Re: 7 String project is FINALLY done!!

Having her paint the pickups huh? i didn't think of that. there are a few problems, like clearing it and stuff, but a pretty good idea actually. Thanks.

Re: 7 String project is FINALLY done!!

Looks great!
Reminds me of my custom ESP that had 10~12 coats of clear because of an extra-thick vinyl sticker.

Oh yeah you're right, now I remember once again, congrats on the new guitar, that painting looks awesome And I agree with the guy who recommended blue/white pickups. But if you can paint them to make them look like part of the painting, that would be very nice indeed.

Does it have a black headstock?? if it's black, then I would just keep the black pickups, just to match.
