7 strings with Maple boards?

Anyone know of any other manufactures besides Schector that makes 7 string with optional maple fret board? I thought I remember seeing a Carvin once that had it but I may be mistaken.

many thanks

Re: 7 strings with Maple boards?

1. Optional at Carvin
2. Have seen a Schecter USA custom with maple.
3. Schecter Loomis
4. An old Ibanez UVGR
5. Ive seen an oo production Kramer 7 with maple.
6. Optional at ESP Custom shop, and Im assuming Jackson Custom as well.

Carvins come with your choice of maple, birdseye maple, rosewood, or ebony. Check their site; they have more options than anyone.

Re: 7 strings with Maple boards?

yah im trying to get a Carvin neckthru blank with blank maple fretboard (7 string). should be sweet. Seeing if Chris woods can build the body for me with it, if not I'll order it myself and just do it myself though,

Do you dig your Carvin as much as Ibanez man? Can you order similar neck profiles from Carvin?

Re: 7 strings with Maple boards?

The Carvin neck profile is a bit bigger, but to me it introduces less fatigue over long periods of play. It's between an Ibanez 7 profile and a Schecter profile. It's a very comfortable neck to play, a real beauty. I've had a bunch of UVs, and still have various RG7s, but my main 7 is a mahogany Carvin with an ebony board and tung oiled mahogany neck. The Carvin 7's are very high quality and really can't be beat for the money in my opinion. If you decide to try a used one, try to stay away from the maple neck/alder body ones, as they can be very bright and brittle sounding. There are lots of Carvin 7 fans around as well

May I ask how the trems are on the Carvin 7's? I know their licensed but I would assume they're top notch quality, though they don't say if it's Gotoh or Schaller, etc.

I don't think I've ever read an answer on how good they are. I think my next buy is going to be the RG2228 but I may just spring for another 7.

Re: 7 strings with Maple boards?

I don't beat my trem like I'm hammering a nail into a board. I use it for more subtle effect, so I may not be the best to ask. That said, it stays in tune, is smooth as silk and sustains great. I don't know why they don't use the OFRs, but I'm more than happy with the trem. The Carvin 727 is a great all round guitar, my current favorite 7 no question.

My Carvin 7 has a maple board on it, that and a floyd were the 2 issues
that drove me to get one in the first place.
Love this freaking guitar.
I have set of BareKnuckles and an Original Floyd 7 going on next week.
Great playing 7.

Re: 7 strings with Maple boards?

Thanks!
the Bareknuckles and the Floyd are in and now this thing is truly amazing, sounds great plays great, the ORF feels a bit sturdier than the Licensed floyd that was in there.
I liked this guitar with the creme pickups but Black is working just as well for me (and now it sounds as good as it looks)

With the new hardware.

Re: 7 strings with Maple boards?

Was the OFR a drop right in situation? Is there really a difference worth the $170 or so to buy the OFR?

Re: 7 strings with Maple boards?

OMG that it SO cool!!

What are the neck profiles like on Carvin 7's? Don't see many at all here in the UK.

Major GAS attack coming... Carvin don't take international orders iirc right? I'm off to hunt on the evilBay...
