7420 or 7620?? im baffled

after looking through all the old ibanez catalogs and trying to figure out what i have i am still confused a little bit.

here is a brief explanation of what i have......it's definately a 7 string RG series and it has a natural wood look with a satin finish

so after looking on the web for this thing i finally decided to pop the neck off and see what i could gather and this is where it got interesting. the model number on the neck is 7620 but the model number on the body is 7420. now according to the 7 string section on this site the 7420 has the bubinga stripe which is odd cause this neck has it but its marked with 7620 and it also has the TRS7 trem so thats in line with it being a 7420. and there is no mention of this particular finish on either model, so if anyone knows whats going on here please clue me in. thanks

What is the serial # on the neck? And wood finish? No 74's or 76's had that to my knowledge. My guess would be a 74 sanded down body with a 76 neck. Post a pic

You can always take off your strings and remove the neck. The body will be stamped in the pocket, and the neck should be stamped between the bolt holes.

If it has a TRS-7 trem it's a 7420 to me. That's the only model that had the TRS-7. (Unless there was an XL 7420)

I think,I may stand corrected,But the 7620 neck was used on not only that model but the 7420 to an extent also,I've seen a few. Also both had bubinga stripes after a certain date ;-)

My guess is it's been re-finished,Don't worry too much, just enjoy a bit of individualism

My 2000 RG7420 also has a 7620-stamped neck with the big ol' bubinga stripe.
