7621/7421 mod almost done

almost finished. just need to wire it up and give it a setup.
7621 neck
7421 body
dimarzio new 7 pickups
7421 bridge plate with 7621 saddles
textured painted body, ala jem, painted canyon black and poly'd
this is a very black guitar, the volume and tone knobs almost dissappear into the body
enjoy

21 string salute

Re: 7621/7421 mod almost done

actually its real easy. i sanded down the body to scruff it up. then i painted it with rustoleum stone creation textured paint . let it dry. gave it a couple of coats of black. let it dry. gave it a couple of coats of poly.
done. no sanding of the poly due to the texture. plus it hides most imperfections and nicks.
oh yeah, the neck was sandeed down and tung oiled. nice smooth finish now.
next one will be in a natural stain finish. much more time consuming. stay tuned.

Pity about the fret markers, it'd look killer with a dark, ebony-esque board.

Is it uncomfortable? Like when you brush against the forearm contour

Re: 7621/7421 mod almost done

yeah, its a smooth rough finish. if that makes any sense.the poly makes it comfortable. plus it's different.
all wired up now and setup. pretty low action, although a can't get the low b quite low enough without buzz. i'll adjust the neck again in a week or 2. sounds good with the new 7 pickups. better than they did in the 7620.
i'm looking for another body now to do another one.

Nice job, it looks awesome and I like your collection of Ibanez 7s as well, the matte finish one is very nice.
