I bought an 8 string Conklin guitar...

I cant post photos cause i have no webspace, but its a killer guitar, midi on all 8 strings, seymour customshop humbucker, neckthru, solid quilt maple body sides. etc.

if you want photos for referance just PM me.

check out conklin too, pricey, but amazing.

Nope, I just picked up this one at the library at my school for a look through today and I saw no sign of Meshuggah's 8-strings. Must've been a different issue you're thinking of.

Thanks for the link Darren. I was wondering what they would do about the scale length. The fanned fretboard seemed like the obvious answer to me. Good to see that I'm not the only one who thought so.

Is it hard to play a fanned-fret guitar? That looks brutal...

I've never played one, but everyone keeps telling me that it feels really natural. If I ever actually make any money again I'm hoping to have a 7 string acoustic built by Jim Williams in Australia and he really wants to use the fanned fret board.

choosing between a low F# or a high A, now thats pretty hard!
i'd need a 9 string to be fully satisfied lol! but my left hand technique would be pretty ****ed up with such a neck!

Unless I got a guitar made with a novax fretting system, I'd never give the guitar a high A string. High E strings break often and easily enough, screw the high A. If I really wanted to go that high I'd get the guitar made with more frets.

I'd like a guitar made with 8 or 9 strings, but right now I'm perfectly happy with just 6 strings. Just don't need anything else, really. I might get a 7 string sometime soon, though.
