Re: 87 RG neon orange....

well if it really is orange (Carotene Orange) and is HSS then its a 560...although I thought all 560's were rosewood, more than likely its just a 550 in RFR...

Prolly RFR then, they do fade over time to an orange appearance.

Re: 87 RG neon orange....

I'd almost bet on it being a RFR, you can tell if the color faded by checking the neck pocket where air didn't get to.

Re: 87 RG neon orange....

Was there really any difference between the Road Flair and Fire Alarm red paint? In '87 there was no FA just RFR on 550's I believe.. Nice uber rare CO 560 btw

Five Alarm wasn't as bright, I don't think.

Re: 87 RG neon orange....

Yeah, I know, its hard to tell since most of those faded over the years, either way it makes you wonder how many FA's are mislabeled as RFRs these days.

Yep, there's a major difference. Under no circumstances can one describe FA as "red" - it's full-on orange.

The first pic I posted is a good representation of FA vs RF (the FA is just a tad brighter in real life, but not much). The FA isn't faded at all - that's how they were when new. You know how an RF can sometimes look orange, sometimes red, sometimes pink? You don't get that with an FA - it's always orange.
