'89 Roadstar? Help me identify this please!

Okay, crappy pic to follow.

A couple of you recently watched me let a really nice guitar slip through my fingers and go to some ass that promptly turned around and posted it on ebay trying to make a heinous profit... so in the spirit of never letting that happen again, plus my unnatural obsession with Japanese guitars (don't know if this is one of course), I need you guys to help once again.

This is a tough one. Out of focus, and tough for me to find on the webs. But, I can see that it has slightly slanted pickups, and I see a similar looking guitar in an ad from 1986... original owner is selling for $100. Is this thing junk as it seems like the owner thinks? Or... GOLD?!?!?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

EDIT: The guitar I thought it was similar to is an RG 440 from 1986...

the chrome edge is worth 100 bucks...looks like a precursor to the pl series...probably a very nice guitar and hard to go wrong for 100 bucks if the neck is straight and there's no major damage...d.m.

I see why you would say that about the pl... also I don't know if it's true but someone online posted that the Roadstar headstock like this one's was discontinued after 1986.

Could this be an RG 440, and if so what does that mean, anything? Thanks...

If it's an RG440--then that means it's an RG440.
Decent guitar, too.

I know, it's the worst ever. Plus the guy didn't give a phone number which makes me insane, I have to wait for an email. Aaaand, I live out of town and am leaving the state for two weeks on Wednesday! If it IS a Japanese anything from mid-80's I think it's worth $100. He says it's a little dusty but "otherwise in very good shape." If that's true then I am there... if I hear from him in time.

OK, that is definitely an RG-440. It very much looks like an '86. which is THE year to have. It was the last year of production and the only roadstar's that got an original edge and a top-lok 3.

If it's in good shape......buy it, buy it, BUY IT!!!!!!!..........

If the trem is black, that's ok......... MANY of them were even though Ibanez only advertised chrome.

BTW...... it is absolutely a Fugijen.

Great info, thanks. Yeah I have pretty much made the decision, but now I need a response from the guy. Sigh, I can see this not going my way with limited time... wish me luck. If I can I will jump on this and then see what we have, post some better pics after vacation.
