'91 RG770DX good price?

Im hoping this is the correct forum to ask this. Its my first post so please advise if im wrong.

Im trying to sell a '91 RG770DX i have in red. Everything is original and all electronics/pups still work great. The body is dinged up and has several chips that are through the paint, the headstock has a few dings as well. The fret board is very clean and frets still have a lot of life left in them, however there is a very small hairline crack on the back of the neck below the headstock where the locking nut goes through. It is about 3/4" long and doesnt seem to effect the playability or integrity of the guitar. It needs a setup as i havent touched it in a while so its experience some fret buzz between the 12th and 15th frets, but last i had it set up the action was low and the neck very smooth and fast. Its also missing the trem cover and truss rod cover. Trem is still in very good shape for a 21 year old guitar.

I was thinking of listing it for $500, but expecting to be talked down to $450, which i think is the lowest i could convince myself to let it go for. So am i in the ballpark, or way off? I paid more than this for it in the same condition its currently in about 8 months ago so im hoping im not being unreasonable. Ive been seeing good condition models going for around $600 it seems. Thanks for any advice.

You haven't actually listed the price you want to sell it for, so we can't really tell you it's a good price.

With the damage done I think you might be overestimating its value. Need pictures to confirm though. I'd be saying $350 in the US for one with a cracked neck (it does need to be repaired to be properly stable long term) and paint damage to the wood.

Re: '91 RG770DX good price?

Hmm..may try to lower my bottom line to $400 then. Below that i dont think i could justify selling it, i paid 540 for it at a local guitar shop.

I made a craigslist ad that has pictures but cant post links until i have at least 10 posts.

Re: '91 RG770DX good price?

The Reissues killed the value on these. I think my almost MINT blue one I got $900 for it and the red one in considerably good shape I sold for $600. It's a shame, because they are basically JEMs. I kept the purple one because it's the only color that was not reissued and plays great, but the other two, I am glad I moved them for what I did. just my 2 cents.

Re: '91 RG770DX good price?

Thanks for the input.

Im going to throw in my ibanez hard case and pray that i can squeeze 400 out of it. Wouldnt mind so much if i hadnt paid 150 more than that without a case only half a year ago. That was after talking my local guitar shop down from 700 too...
